What you will do:
1. As a Commercial Banking Director within the Real Estate team here at Metro Bank, you will use your Commercial Real Estate lending experience, and business development skills, to grow the bank with the acquisition of new customers, whilst maintaining your active portfolio of existing customers.
2. Our Commercial Banking Directors are proactive external faces to the large commercial real estate market, building on Metro Bank’s brand reputation in this key marketplace - Real Estate lending as an Asset Class makes up an increasingly significant part of our Commercial Balance Sheet.
3. Deliver on lending and business development objectives, responding to external market challenges, regulatory requirements, and internal risk challenges.
4. Manage, influence and build an internal network across the bank to ensure a One Team approach for customers and colleagues and to deliver required propositions and pricing requirements, risk policies and reporting set and managed within appetites.
5. Manage workflow and performance of a team of Relationship Managers and Commercial Analysts, ensuring timely compliance of all credit and operational risk tasks.
6. Manage aspects of risk, including Credit, Operational and Regulatory.
7. Support career development of colleagues and be a role model for colleagues such as Commercial Banking Managers and Commercial Relationship Managers who may be looking to progress into your role in the future.

What you will need:
1. Evidencable track record in business development across commercial/corporate Real Estate lending, within a banking or similar financial services environment.
2. Excellent credit origination and deal structuring skills, with a track record of lending to more complex Real Estate Finance customers, including large residential and mixed residential sub asset classes.
3. In-depth knowledge of commercial banking, property investment and development lending, with general wider commercial banking and product knowledge.
4. Experienced in credit writing, financial analysis and report writing for customers with complex requirements.
5. Ability to confidentially represent your team and the Bank on various Committees, Forums and other formal groups both internally and externally.
6. Excellent communication and customer/client relationship management with the ethos of providing excellent customer service.
7. Excellent negotiation skills with an ability to interact and influence senior/executive management, internally and externally.
8. Understand what drives a strong culture internally, and how to strengthen and maintain it as we grow – good knowledge of how culture and leadership feed through to customer experience.
