About you
As a Mechanical & Electrical Clerk of Works you will be responsible for inspecting construction work to ensure it meets the requirements of Quality, Compliance & British Standards.
What does the role involve?
* Inspecting the construction and installation of M&E and building elements, comparing it with drawings and specifications.
* Measuring and quality checking building materials.
* Monitoring the standards and quality of work, with consistency throughout the project.
* Promote best practice, health & safety, and risk mitigation.
* Monitoring progress and reporting to construction managers, architects, and clients.
* Keeping detailed records of work including photographs of work, showing measurements where applicable.
* Identifying snags and defects, assisting in the management and closing of defects and where appropriate provide technical advice.
* Learning to use Field View and executing the above functions using the Field View software provided.
* Liaising with contractors, engineers, and surveyors.
* Preparing or assisting to prepare reports as required during the projects.
* Communicating clearly and comprehensively and ensuring that the how, why, what, where and when is included in your communication.
* Supporting requests or instructions by bundling photographs, drawings, sketches, and explanatory text in ‘data packs’, to adequately describe and illustrate the element of work.
* Checking that building regulations, health and safety, legal and ecological requirements are met.
* Working on construction sites, occasionally on multiple construction sites simultaneously.
Minimum Requirements:
* Experience working in a senior supervisory role within a Mechanical / Electrical position.
* Ideally a recognised Mechanical and/or Electrical qualification.
* Being familiar with M&E contract documents and the reading of M&E drawings.
* Extensive knowledge of building and construction.
* Highly organised with strong time management.
* Competent in the use of a computer or hand-held device.
* Thoroughness and attentiveness to detail with the ability to analyse quality and performance.
* Analytical thinking skills and mathematical competence.
* Confident and approachable with customer service skills.
* Ability to use your initiative, but also the awareness to verify with others when appropriate.
* Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations.
* Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team.
