About the role:
You will lead and manage the operational delivery of all Development services across Golden Lane Housing. You will motivate and inspire your direct reports and their teams to deliver outstanding performance, high customer satisfaction, and value for money services. You will lead the Development team in the identification and implementation of new business opportunities and contribute to the delivery of Golden Lane Housing’s corporate objectives and the operational objectives of the Development Service. You will lead on the implementation of Golden Lane Housing’s development strategy.
You will also lead and manage the lease contracts team to ensure all leases are renewed in line with internal procedures and processes.
You will be responsible for collaborating with internal colleagues and external organisations, fostering excellent working relationships to enhance and deliver services.
As Head of Development, you will work with the Director of Development to provide leadership, management, and strategic direction for the Directorate, deputising for the Director as required. You will contribute to the effective strategic management of development services to ensure Golden Lane Housing is a sustainable, ambitious, dynamic, and successful organisation.
Responsibilities:
* Developing and inspiring teams to maximise their potential for excellent service delivery.
* Responsibility for apprising new schemes through the development programme.
* Working with the Development managers to identify future challenges and opportunities and for the development of new business opportunities.
* Ensuring continuous improvement and innovation is applied as a core principle within the development team.
* Responsible for delivery on annual targets and meeting key departmental KPIs.
* Producing and implementing operational plans that support the Development Strategy and Business Plan Objectives.
* Effectively communicating relevant business and performance data within Golden Lane Housing and to relevant internal and external stakeholders.
* Ensuring that development services are effective and responsive, meeting customer aspirations while delivering value for money.
* Identifying, owning, and managing risks arising from operational plans and the delivery of development services.
* Approving and signing leases in line with the organisational authorisation table.
* Providing motivational leadership and support to line managers and their teams.
* Managing designated budgets ensuring that value for money is achieved in all circumstances.
* Working with the Head of Housing to support the growth strategy and establish Golden Lane Housing as a key housing provider.
* Contributing to the development of strategic and financial plans and managing operational plans.
* Ensuring that all business development opportunities across the country maximise new tenancies and income sources.
* Supporting and monitoring the delivery of tender processes for new business opportunities.
* Gathering and analysing data regarding programme delivery and new tenancies.
* Building and developing new business relationships across the country to ensure services are sustainable.
* Authorising payments to third-party landlords.
* Meeting regulatory, statutory, and legal requirements within the department.
* Managing operational risk in the development directorate and risk register.
* Contributing to the development of related policies, procedures, and initiatives.
* Ensuring compliance with organisational requirements for Data Protection, risk management, and Health & Safety.
* Promoting effective communications, excellence in customer service, and a focus on continuous improvement.
* Carrying out any other duties that are commensurate with the general level of responsibility of the post.
* Managing ongoing supplier contracts with KPIs and regular service reviews.
Candidate requirements:
* Membership of the Chartered Institute of Housing or a degree level qualification or significant relevant experience in a senior role in social housing.
* Extensive travel is required; therefore, flexibility and a full UK Driving Licence are essential.
* Experience of leading, developing, motivating, and managing teams delivering a variety of services.
* Experience of effectively setting and managing budgets and resources.
* Extensive experience in the delivery of operational housing services.
* Experience in developing and delivering operational plans that meet corporate objectives.
* Experience of leading services that deliver outstanding customer-focused services.
* Experience of implementing and monitoring Performance Management Systems.
* Experience of leading and delivering change within an organisation.
* Knowledge of housing management best practice processes and safeguarding.
* Experience of managing complex projects and initiatives.
* Working knowledge of housing law, regulation, and current housing issues.
* Able to analyse complex data and deliver information to various audiences.
* Able to influence, persuade, and negotiate to achieve positive outcomes.
* Able to lead, motivate, develop, and inspire teams.
