JOB DESCRIPTION
Wood is currently recruiting for a Principal Instrument Designer with extensive experience in the oil and gas petrochemical industry.
Wood is undergoing significant growth in our North Sea engineering and modifications business and we are delighted to offer a range of long-term opportunities (5 years +) across a variety of our clients and scopes. We are looking for candidates with a range of experience and skill sets to enhance our services.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Contributes to engineering excellence by providing the link between engineering design theory and practical application, translating critical design concepts into workable plans for tangible end-products.
1. Prepares engineering drawings in their discipline area from rough sketches or from general engineering and design information according to established standards and procedures.
2. Create designs and sketch out detailed plans for projects such as commercial, industrial, and civil sector structures and plant and/or manufactured products and systems.
3. Plans and carries out technical assignments of substantial variety and complexity. Capable of handling assignments which involve a variety of procedures and techniques.
4. Undertakes technical assignments that are a significant part of an ongoing engineering program.
5. Prepares mechanical or digital drawings, diagrams or blueprints and/or models of various products or structures, using computer-aided drafting (CAD) and/or computer-aided drafting and design (CADD) software.
QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications:
1. Minimum ISCED level 5 short-cycle tertiary education in engineering discipline.
2. Must have valid Offshore Certs and be willing to go offshore.
Knowledge, skills and experience:
1. A full understanding of the materials and methods normally used in their discipline.
2. An understanding of related engineering principles and practices, plus training and diversified experience in the field of activity is required.
3. Capable of interpreting key documents including engineering standards, piping material specifications, P&IDs, and Line Lists.
4. Technically oriented, mechanically inclined, good at mathematics and talented at translating intangible concepts into hands-on project plans.
5. Competent user of CAD/D software.
