We are seeking a fantastic individual to join us as a Veterinary Lab Technician at Hamilton Specialist Referrals. You will be responsible for performing various tests and analyses on animal samples. Your work will support veterinarians in diagnosing and treating animal patients.
You will process samples, maintain laboratory equipment, manage inventory, and ensure that tests are conducted accurately and efficiently. You will also be responsible for sending samples to external laboratories when necessary.
The laboratory technician role is part of our wider day veterinary care assistant team, which consists of 9 members in varied roles. You will be working closely with them to support our vets and nurses.
Additional responsibilities include supporting our Dispensary Veterinary Nurse with tasks such as general practice stock control and contributing to ongoing infection control within the hospital as part of the infection control committee.

The hospital is operational 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and can offer the most advanced treatment options available for Orthopaedic, Neurology, Soft Tissue, Oncology, and Internal Medicine cases.

More about you
Experience working in a veterinary care assistant role with experience running in-house laboratory tests is an advantage. You must be a team player as our Lab Technician will play a vital role in coordinating between our specialists, interns and nurses to ensure efficient processes within the lab setting. You must be willing and able to achieve and maintain the very highest standards within Infection Control, to support the hospital to achieve the necessary clinical standards expected within an environment such as this. Being able to work in a consistently thorough manner in a fast-paced environment and having a high attention to detail is essential for this role.
This is a full-time role, consisting of 40 hours per week on a rota basis, covering a variety of 8-hour shifts over 5 days. You will also be included in the OOH rota.
