RM Technology is a market-leading supplier of ICT products and services to UK schools and colleges to deliver a technology environment that improves learning outcomes and makes the most of IT investment, driving focus through four lines of business: Managed Services, Software, Hardware and Broadband.
Reporting to the Head of Implementation & Consultancy Services, the Principal Consultant role focuses on crafting comprehensive IT strategies, operating models, and IT roadmaps tailored for each customer. Acting as the customer's CIO, this role collaborates closely with their executive leadership team to align IT initiatives with their strategic objectives. Additionally, the Principal Consultant engages in the presales process by designing high-level service operating models and conducting workshops for prospective customers, ensuring that IT solutions are both scalable and meet their goals.
Responsibilities
* Strategic IT Planning - Developing and implementing IT strategies that align with the organisations overall business objectives.
* IT Governance - Establishing and maintaining IT governance frameworks and policies to ensure compliance and effective use of technology.
* Technology Roadmaps - Working in conjunction with technical architects, create and manage IT roadmaps to guide technology investments and upgrades.
* Cybersecurity - Working in conjunction with Cyber Security Consultants, implement and monitor cyber security measures to protect the organisations data and IT infrastructure.
* Risk Management - For in scope customers, identify and mitigate IT-related risks, working with the customer to ensure business continuity and disaster recovery plans are in place.
* Operating Model Design - Creating efficient, scalable IT operating models that align with customers strategic goals, are cost effective, and allow for the service to deliver high levels of customer satisfaction.
* Executive collaboration - Working closely with the customers executive leadership team acting as their CIO to ensure IT initiatives support their goals and drive innovation.
* Presales Engagement - Designing high level service operating models and conducting workshops for prospective customers as part of the presales process.
* Service Improvement - Continuously evaluating and improving the services offered by the virtual CIO role.
Experience
You will have:
* Proven experience in a senior IT leadership role, such as CIO, CTO or IT director.
* Demonstrable ability to develop and execute IT strategies that align with the organisation's goals.
* Experience in managing large scale IT projects, including planning, execution and delivery within scope, time and budget constraints.
* Experience in driving and managing change within an organisation, including technology adoption and organisational cultural shifts.
* Delivering for multiple customers within a Managed Service environment.
* Proven experience of Target Operating model design.
You will be:
* A strong collaborative team player, able to work well with extended business members both internally and externally.
* An executor, able to translate requirements into delivery, and ensure this is achieved.
* A tech translator, able to provide technical guidance to the customers executive leadership team ensuring they understand the benefits and risks when executing their IT strategy.
* A change agent, driving and managing change with the in-scope customers ensuring smooth technology adoption and transitions.
We're looking for candidates with the following knowledge and skills:
* In-depth knowledge of current and emerging technology trends and how they can be leveraged for the in-scope customer base.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills with experience in working closely with executive leadership and stakeholders.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify complex IT issues and implementing innovative solutions.
* ITIL v4 Strategic Leader (ITIL v4 Master desirable).
* A professional certification such as CISSP, CISM.
