Job Purpose Enterprise architecture is the process by which organisations standardise and organise IT infrastructure and systems to align with business goals. These strategies support digital transformation, IT growth, and the modernisation of IT. It ensures the business is aligned with digital transformation strategies and technological growth. Enterprise architecture is essential for businesses planning digital transformation, because it focuses on bringing legacy processes and applications together to form a more seamless environment. The Enterprise Architect (EA) will be responsible for embedding the architecture practice within the company. This will involve further developing existing governance frameworks, developing processes, recommending tooling and most importantly, working with business stakeholders and exec team to ensure alignment with the organisation's strategic goals. The EA will be working on the creation and management of architecture models, guiding principles, and standards, as well as fostering a collaborative culture among various IT and business stakeholders. The Architecture Practice will ensure that all new and existing IT Services are well governed, risk-managed and value driven allowing benefits to be aligned to the business goals. Duties and Responsibilities: Business Engagement Develop strong relationships with business colleagues and being a trusted advisor Engage with key business stakeholders regularly to understand pain points, opportunities and emerging business needs Ensure business stakeholders are comfortable with ongoing technical initiatives Support business stakeholders in change management efforts related to technology transformation Capturing new ideas from colleagues and being able to playback to non-technical and technical stakeholders Ensure IT and Business leaders are aligned on priorities and trade offs Conduct regular briefings, workshops, and presentations to ensure Enterprise Architecture is well understood across the organisation Architecture Practice: Further develop the architecture practice within the IT department Define and document processes for defining architecture principles, standards and guidelines Operate the following boards and governance structure: architecture review board (ARB), technical debt review board and technical design authority (TDA). People Line manage and mentor domain architects eg IAM & security architect, data & integration architect Governance and Compliance: Evolve architecture governance processes ensuring business needs are met while maintaining technical integrity Maintain processes to ensure all IT projects align with the enterprise architecture Create processes to monitor and report on compliance with architecture standards Support business leaders in defining and justifying IT investments through robust business cases Strategy and Planning: Work with the senior leadership to align IT strategy with business goals Assist with the development of the IT roadmap and architecture vision and processes to update at appropriate periods Identify processes for evaluating emerging technologies for potential use Provide insights on emerging technology trends and their potential impact on business growth and efficiency Work with PMO and portfolio management functions to rationalise and prioritise new project requests either to update and improve the business technology estate or to implement new digital capabilities and/or technologies that are key to supporting the company vision and strategies for success. Advise and guide delivery on projects, so that projects adhere to the principles, standards and conceptual designs as agreed to by the ARB. Advocate for technology investments that drive business value Architecture Development: Design the IT architecture model blueprints and templates (business, application, data, and technology architectures). Ensure consistency and integration across all architecture domains Lead on the creation of architecture blueprints and technical roadmaps Documentation and Communication: Maintain comprehensive architecture documentation templates and processes Develop process to create and communicate architecture vision, strategy, and standards to stakeholders Conduct training and awareness sessions on architecture principles and practices Tooling: Implement EA tooling for the EA practice Tooling to allow for Capability models to be created Document use cases on use of tooling for all areas of the EA Performance Measurement: Define key performance indicators (KPIs) for architecture activities. Define process for regular architecture maturity assessments and implement improvement plans Skills/Attributes Required: Minimum of 15 years of experience in IT, with at least 3 years in an EA role. Proven experience in managing an architecture practice. Strong background in enterprise architecture frameworks e.g., TOGAF certification. Deep understanding of architecture domains (business, application, data, technology). Proficiency in architecture modelling tools Knowledge of cloud computing, microservices, and other modern IT architectures. Excellent leadership and team management skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
