The Vacancy Responsible for defining and executing the group debt sale strategy and delivery schedule. In addition, the role holder is responsible for overseeing the debt collection agency (DCA), specialist recoveries strategy and supplier performance, quality assurance and customer outcomes. This role ensures the effective recovery of outstanding balances whilst maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies. The role will develop and implement strategies to optimise recoveries performance, manage relationships with external debt collection agencies, and lead the sales of performing and non-performing portfolios. This role requires strong leadership, analytical, stakeholder and negotiation skills to maximise recovery rates and minimise losses. Key Responsibilities Develop, execute and optimise comprehensive external recoveries strategies, including debt sale, DCA, insolvency, deceased and reconnection. Responsible for debt purchaser, DCA and specialist recoveries panel selection and management, conducting monthly and quarterly business reviews to ensure they deliver against VBG standards. Deploy a recoveries and sale strategy and schedule that delivers against budget commitments. Utilise strong external stakeholder management to maintain strong relationships with VBGs strategic partners to ensure VBG has the right panel to execute the recoveries strategy and debt sales. Communicate effectively with internal senior management and provide regular updates on department priorities and performance. Monitor and analyse recovery performance metrics to identify areas for improvement. Ensure all recoveries and sale activities comply with relevant laws and regulations. Implement risk management practices to minimise potential losses and legal and compliance risks. Responsible for maintaining a position of subject matter expert on industry guidance relating to recoveries, particularly industry changes, regulatory expectations and specialist recoveries practices. Represent VBG at industry events and benchmarking for recoveries. What you bring to the team In-depth understanding of recoveries processes, techniques and best practice. Comprehensive knowledge of the recoveries and debt sale market, including strategies, processes and suppliers. Strong commercial acumen, with knowledge of the leavers that can be pulled to improve financial performance. Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations governing debt recovery and sales. An inspirational and experienced leader of a recoveries or debt sale department. Experience of working in a customer centric business. Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire team members. Excellent negotiation skills to manage spot and forward flow debt sales transactions. Forward-thinking mindset to anticipate challenges and identify opportunities for improvement. Ability to identify trends, assess performance metrics, and optimise recovery processes. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and manage stakeholder expectations. Experience of optimising recoveries and debt sale strategies. Experience in overseeing and negotiating debt sale agreements. Robust risk management practices, that reduce the potential for financial losses and legal and compliance issues.
