Job summary We are looking to grow our team of Speech and Language Therapists to support our adult acute SLT Team at University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW). UHCW is a friendly, supportive and innovative place to work. You will be working across the acute inpatient service at both UHCW and Rugby St Cross Hospital providing input across multiple wards including respiratory, neurology, care of the elderly, emergency wards, critical care and oncology. The successful candidate will be expected to work autonomously with adults with acquired communication difficulties, providing assessment, diagnosis and intervention approaches. A dysphagia caseload may be offered dependent on experience. You will have the independence to manage your caseload whilst being part of the wider team to ensure safe, quality and effective care. We offer regular group and 1-1 supervision, bi-monthly CPD sessions, access to FEES and videofluoroscopy as well as being a friendly, sociable and supportive team. Main duties of the job Provide a high standard Speech and Language Therapy service, assessing and advising on patients care & treatment, as an autonomous practitioner working with patients with dysphagia and/or communication difficulties (depending on competence). Manage a caseload of patients with varying diagnosis and complex needs relative to your experience including stroke, general medicine, respiratory, oncology, surgery, critical care and care of the elderly, using evidence- based client centred principles. To be involved in the education and training of volunteers, students and other staff. Maintain clinical records in line with local / Trust documentation guidelines Work as an integral part of the multidisciplinary team, contributing to team discussions, attending Multi-Disciplinary Meetings, board rounds and family meetings where necessary.
