About the Opportunity
Our Nuclear Power business is looking for a Structural Integrity Consultant to work with our clients across the civil nuclear market. We support giga-scale, SMR and AMR programmes across the UK and internationally and our clients need support in design, GDA, operation, lifetime extension and defuelling. Our multiple structural integrity teams within the UK provide expert structural engineering, finite element stress analysis, structural integrity analysis/assessment, structural integrity safety case and architect engineering to a range of customers across the broader nuclear industry including, nuclear power, decommissioning, MOD, etc.
As the demand for our services continue to grow there is an exciting opportunity for an innovative and enthusiastic Structural Integrity Consultant to join us. Working as part of our nuclear power business you will help to link the capability of our multiple structural analysis teams to our clients’ needs. The successful candidate will work on the opportunities we face to ensure Jacobs can provide the best offering possible to our clients. Your role will help ensure increased focus and understanding of emergent requirements and ensure our business remains the supplier of choice for our clients.
The successful candidate will have a sound structural integrity background, preferably with experience in delivering projects in the nuclear sector. You will have great communication skills to enable you to interact with our clients, understand their needs and support bidding and project delivery. Depending on the nature of the opportunities arising this may mean working semi-embedded within our clients’ organisation or overseeing delivery of tasks from our offices.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Discussing and developing solutions with colleagues and customers;
2. Representing the business in technical meetings with clients and third parties;
3. Interfacing with customers throughout the lifecycle of projects;
4. Producing high quality technical reports on the outcome of your work;
5. Design and/or analysis and assessment of complex structures and components utilising knowledge of classical strength of materials, implementation of analytical techniques such as finite element analysis and the application of relevant codes & standards.
6. Checking and verification of the work of other team members;
7. Assisting in maintaining the technical capability/knowledge of the team;
8. Delivering work to time, cost and quality to ensure customer satisfaction.
Here's What You'll Need:
9. We are looking for a Chartered Engineer or Scientist in their discipline, educated to degree level in mechanical engineering (or other relevant degree) and with industrial experience and professionally accredited to IEng/CEng or working towards.
10. Experience of Structural Integrity project delivery.
11. Experience in responding to tender requests.
12. Excellent communication skills.
13. BEng (Hons)/MEng or equivalent in a relevant STEM degree.
14. Proficient in application of structural design codes such as ASME, Eurocodes, British Standards.
15. Curiosity, a questioning attitude and analytical skills to drive innovative solutions.
