Job Description
A skilled and dedicated Control Systems Engineer with expertise in Allen Bradley PLC programming and automation systems is required for an 18 month project. This role is outside of IR35. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining control systems for manufacturing and industrial applications.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design, develop, and implement control systems using Allen Bradley PLCs (ControlLogix, CompactLogix, SLC500, etc.) and associated HMI/SCADA systems.
2. Program and troubleshoot control system applications, ensuring proper functionality and integration with other systems.
3. Develop and maintain user-friendly HMI screens and SCADA interfaces.
4. Perform system analysis, diagnostics, and troubleshooting to resolve control system issues, ensuring minimal downtime.
5. Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to ensure system integration meets operational requirements.
6. Provide support for system commissioning and start-up processes in the field.
7. Conduct testing, system validation, and debugging of control systems.
8. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, best practices, and Allen Bradley technology advancements.
9. Document design specifications, control system programs, troubleshooting procedures, and operational manuals.
10. Provide training and technical support for end-users and junior engineers.
11. Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards throughout the control system design and implementation phases.
Experience:
1. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or time served experience.
2. Proven hands-on experience with Allen Bradley PLCs (e.g., ControlLogix, CompactLogix, SLC500).
3. Proficient in ladder logic programming, structured text, and function block diagram.
4. Experience with Rockwell software tools such as RSLogix 5000, Studio 5000, FactoryTalk, and others.
5. Strong understanding of industrial automation principles, control theory, and instrumentation.
6. Knowledge of SCADA/HMI systems (e.g., FactoryTalk View, Wonderware, or similar).
7. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and other technical documentation.
8. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
9. Excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
10. Experience with industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, ControlNet) and industrial protocols (Modbus, OPC) is a plus.
11. Willingness to travel to client sites for system commissioning, troubleshooting, and support.
