Role responsibilities To provide statistical expertise for developing and publishing data relating to the new Wales National Travel Survey, default 20mph speed limit monitoring and for maintaining and updating the Wales Transport Strategy Monitoring Framework, all of which are commitments set out in the Wales Transport Strategy. Prepare annual Wales National Travel Survey statistics, data tables, headline reports and relevant supporting information, by using statistical analysis software and appropriate methodologies, to allow Official Statistics to be published in line with agreed timescales. Take responsibility for analysing specific topics from the Wales National Travel Survey data, using appropriate statistical techniques, to provide insights for policy decision makers. Review and refine methodologies and questions in the Wales National Travel Survey, liaising with other TfW statisticians, stakeholders and our survey delivery partner, to ensure that questions and data are being used appropriately and that potential enhancements deliver against stakeholder and business needs. Undertake annual reviews of Wales National Travel Survey reporting processes and publications, by working closely with the Lead Statistician and gathering feedback from key stakeholders, allowing outputs to be continually updated and enhanced to meet user needs. Who we’re looking for Degree level qualification in a relevant numerate discipline, such as statistics, social research or psychology. Demonstrable experience of applying mathematical and statistical techniques when working with and interrogating large datasets. Experience of preparing complex data tables for publication. Experience in applying specialist knowledge on sample sizes, sampling frameworks and confidence levels to large scale surveys. Experience completing analysis using R, Python or similar. Welsh Language Skills The ability to speak/write Welsh would make a great addition to your application, but it is not essential for this role. Transport for Wales supports and promotes the use of the Welsh Language by employees and will encourage them to develop, improve and maintain their Welsh Language skills.
