Temporary Resettlement Officer – Housing

Pay Rate: Up to £18.50 per hour PAYE depending on experience TBC
Hours per week: 37 Monday – Friday, normal working hours
Role Length: This opening assignment is for 3-4 months
City: Bournemouth, Dorset

The purpose of the role is to assist people moving on from supported housing to secure appropriate settled accommodation.
Key Responsibilities:
Liaise with housing providers, partners and landlords/agents to secure a steady supply of good quality accommodation available to those in supported placements.
Upskill provider staff in relation to private rented market, Landlord relationships, housing register and other Council incentives for move on
Assist in the promotion of ongoing competitive initiatives to attract new landlords and retain existing landlords/agents
Support providers staff to support people to move on
Ensuring transition and floating support is in place for people moving on
Promote services to clients and provider staff so they are aware of what is available to assist with move on and once they are in independent accommodation.
Work with provider staff and clients around the importance of daily structure and activities established for when people move on and are on their own for the first time in accommodation.
Work with providers staff and clients to ensure move on accommodation is sustainable and meets their long term needs.
Support providers with the day to day move on from supported accommodation, including tenancy sign up’s, benefit applications, setting up utilities etc. organising furniture and removals.
Provide robust housing advice and assistance in line with current legislation and council policies to provider staff and clients.
Work with supported housing providers to actively identify clients ready for move on and support them to move on as quickly as possible.
Maintain accurate case notes and record all case activity on Locata.
Qualifications:
A good standard of education, including excellent levels of numeracy and literacy.
Skills & Experience:
Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
Experience of effectively working with landlords, letting agents and other accommodation suppliers.
Experience of working with people who are homeless, at risk of homelessness, in housing need and/or living in unsatisfactory housing.
Experience of providing an excellent level of customer care and customer service in a comparable customer service environment.
Experience of working effectively with private sector landlords and/or within a homelessness context.
Experience of prioritising competing demands in a pressurised environment, recognize service priorities and manage a caseload within agreed targets.
Experience of successfully developing initiatives and schemes to provide housing opportunities for people in housing need.
Experience of managing own caseload.
Excellent negotiating, influencing and liaison skills to successfully promote the Council to private sector landlords and agents and market housing options to customers, staff and stakeholders.
Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
