Full time / 37 hours / Fixed term for 6 months due to backfilling secondment
The Income Management Team are responsible for maximising the rental income for the authority by collecting rent, minimising rent arrears, and supporting customers to help sustain their Council tenancies. We aim to provide a customer focused and responsive service, to achieve high standards of customer care and help sustain, support, and maintain tenancies.
This is a full time, fixed term position working 37 hours per week from Monday to Friday. Initially you'll be based at City Hall as well as occasional homeworking.
We will consider this vacancy on a secondment basis for Leicester City Council employees. If you wish to apply for this post on a secondment basis then please make your line manager aware before applying.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll enforce conditions of tenancies in relation to rent arrears, recovering, and managing debt, in line with policy up to and including, preparing cases and advocating on behalf of the authority in County Court for rental possession hearings. You'll provide an income maximisation service to support customers and signpost them for specialist support as appropriate. Visiting tenants in their own homes, you'll conduct interviews.
What You'll Need
With experience of working within Housing Management or a Rent Recovery environment, you'll have excellent communication skills to support a wide range of customers, including vulnerable people with complex needs with the management of their rent account to minimise rent arrears. Using proficient IT skills, you'll update Housing system databases, maintain records, and prepare reports to manage rent accounts. You'll be able to resolve difficult situations using tact and diplomacy, whilst using high levels of numeracy skills to negotiate rent payment arrangements and resolve complex rent accounting problems.
