Our client, a leading international manufacturer, is looking to recruit an organised, professional, and efficient Compliance Manager. A key focus of this role will be the development, implementation, and ongoing management of the company’s Health & Safety framework, building it from the ground up to ensure a robust, practical, and compliant system.
Reporting to the Director of HR, duties include:
Compliance Management:
* Ensure the company adheres to all current Health & Safety (H&S), ISO, and BRC standards, including hosting annual assessments and certification audits.
* Develop, implement, and maintain quality standards and policies, ensuring the business operates within required accreditation standards, including adapting to unannounced audits.
* Monitor legislative changes (e.g., H&S, environmental, Brexit-related) and communicate requirements to business leaders, coordinating responses as needed.
Health & Safety (H&S):
* Develop and implement a robust H&S management framework, including a programme of documented inspections, audits, and checks.
* Conduct site inspections to ensure policies and procedures are followed, and minimise risks such as operational losses, accidents, and occupational health issues.
* Lead training sessions on H&S issues and risks for employees and managers.
* Liaise with regulators, including local authorities and the HSE, to ensure compliance.
* Oversee fire alarm testing, fire marshal coordination, and first-aid responsibilities.
Audits and Risk Management:
* Work with the Compliance Specialist to plan, execute, and manage internal audit schedules and supplier audits, including self-assessments.
* Ensure vendor compliance by assessing key suppliers, identifying risks, and implementing corrective actions.
* Conduct root cause analyses for compliance or quality issues and oversee implementation of preventative measures.
Product & Vendor Compliance:
* Ensure all products meet legislative requirements and maintain specifications.
* Support supplier reviews and onboarding, including quality and safety assessments for new products.
* Oversee the Product Withdrawal and Recall processes, ensuring thorough review and resolution of incidents.
Customer Interaction:
* Oversee customer questionnaires, satisfaction measures, and complaint processes, including quarterly trend analysis to identify and address weaknesses and report back to the Management team.
Continuous Improvement:
* Review and revise management system key policies, ensuring consistent documentation and compliance.
* Monitor and report on the company’s use of plastic packaging, WEEE and EPR to meet customer and legislation requirements.
Documentation & Reporting:
* Oversee document control procedures to ensure legislative compliance while maintaining confidentiality.
As an ideal applicant, you will have experience within an audit-facing role and understanding of standards; ISO9001, ISO45001, ISO14001 & BRCGS storage and Distribution. A background in food or food manufacturing would be beneficial, as would an in-depth knowledge of the industry’s standards and regulations.
You will be self-motivated, have a high level of communication, be methodical and diligent with outstanding planning abilities, with the ability to build, analyse, interpret and report on data together with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, CRM, and Sage 200c.
