We are looking for a Junior Test Engineer to join our community of tech experts in DWP Digital. This role represents a unique opportunity to join the Children and Families team at DWP Digital, to be part of a team delivering real value.

What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?
* (Lead criterion) Maintain and refine UI automated tests using Java, awareness of automated API testing and knowledge of common engineering practices.
* Awareness of non-functional testing techniques e.g. Performance, Compatibility, Security, Accessibility.
* Communicate effectively and work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Describe & apply with support Agile testing and delivery principles, methodology and tools.
* Experience of the testing lifecycle, understanding business needs from delivery to production, including test generation, reporting and defect management.

The Child Maintenance Service aim is to improve children's lives through the provision of effective child maintenance arrangements. In Children and Families Digital, we help run and maintain products and services that improve the outcomes for children, by enabling parents to put in place and manage sustainable child maintenance arrangements in an efficient and convenient way.
As a Junior Test Engineer, you will be part of a multi-functional agile delivery team, understanding requirements and creating automated test scripts, to deliver quality services consistently, that meet the needs of our customers.
The successful candidate will be expected to collaborate with others, actively seek input from colleagues and value a multidisciplinary team over hierarchy.

Location: You'll join us in our Newcastle hub, only a short Metro ride from the city centre, has a modern, informal and collaborative working environment.
Hybrid Working: We work a hybrid model - you'll spend some time working at home and some time collaborating face to face in a hub.
Pay: We offer competitive pay of up to £38,373.
Pension: You'll get a brilliant civil service pension with employer contributions worth 28.97%, worth over £10,000 per year.
Holidays: A generous leave package starting at 24 days rising to 31 days over time. You can also take up to 3 extra days off a month on flexitime. You'll also get all the usual public holidays.
