Job summary Applications Support Specialist - Pharmacy Band 7, Full Time, Permanent The post holder will be part of the Application Support Team and serve as the technical Digital Services lead for pharmacy, maintaining the electronic prescribing system (Oracle Millennium) across the Trust. They will work with relevant groups to ensure system alignment with agreed plans. They will manage Chemocare for chemotherapy prescribing, overseeing data management, system maintenance, upgrades, and training. Additionally, they will be responsible for the pharmacy stock control system and other pharmacy-related applications, ensuring effective data control, monitoring, and user support. Providing cross-site training and guidance, the post holder will support pharmacy and clinical staff in the safe, effective, and cost-efficient use of pharmacy applications and prescribing systems. A pharmacy background with strong IT skills is essential to resolve medication build issues while meeting user needs and SLAs. The post holder must complete required training and examinations to gain access to CRS Millennium's maintenance tools if not already certified. Proposed Interview Date - TBC Main duties of the job Provide training, support and guidance for pharmacy and clinical staff to ensure safe, clinically effective and cost-effective use of the pharmacy applications and prescribing systems by: Contribute towards the continuous improvement of the service offered by the Clinical Application Team Being responsible for ensuring that all staff are appropriately trained to use the pharmacy systems and the trusts electronic prescribing system Assessing staff's competency on the use of these systems Responsible for writing, reviewing and maintaining the pharmacy SOPs on the afore mentioned systems including training procedures and competencies assessment Developing and implementing strategies to meet the training needs of all staff in relation to Digital Services Identifying own training needs Responsible for own continual professional development Support the Principal Digital Pharmacist in defining and implementing medicines management systems policies and support the development of the pharmacy service in parallel to this. Support the Principal Pharmacist - Haematology & Technical Services in running the electronic chemotherapy prescribing programme. Responsible for the review and development of departmental and trust wide procedures in relation to Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration - in conjunction with the appropriate system leads.
