Salary: £11.52- £13.17 (hourly rate is dependent on qualification and experience)
Location: Southampton
Specific Hours: Shift pattern on rotation- ad hoc cover
Who are we?
Budwood, a part of Polaris Community, is a local business providing Residential Care and Support to children and young adults with emotional behavioural difficulties as well as social and emotional mental health. Our young people may have experienced adverse childhood experiences, and the aim of the service is to provide them with a stable, comfortable home. They will receive high levels of support and guidance to keep them safe, as well as guidance to enable them to learn new skills to help with a successful transition to independence and adulthood.
We are looking for passionate Residential Support Workers to join one of our homes in Southampton on a casual basis, covering shifts as needed. This opportunity allows you flexibility to work the hours you can commit to with no contractual obligation. You will be part of a team that provides flexible and individual care packages for all our children and young adults. Working for Budwood, you will join a supportive and collaborative team that recognizes you as an individual. All staff are trained in 'Developmental Trauma' and therapeutic parenting to best aid your understanding and ability to provide young people with the best support possible.
Main Duties and Requirements:
* Experience of working with children and young people, along with an understanding of the issues that face young people in care.
* Flexibility in your availability as you will be required to cover sicknesses, annual leave, and a range of hours/shifts, including sleep-in shifts as necessary.
* Promoting, safeguarding, and protecting the welfare of our young people.
* Establishing and maintaining positive and trusting relationships with our young people.
* Ability to work well as part of a team and accept direction and guidance.
* Encouraging the development of the individual interests of our young people.
* Hold Residential Childcare/Families Practitioner Diploma/Children and Young People's Workforce/NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent - or be willing to work towards a required qualification and upgrade to a Level 4 diploma (not essential, but desirable).
* Have a full UK driving licence and car as this role will involve travelling.
* Excellent communication and listening skills.
* Willingness to learn.
* Ability to work well as part of a small team.
* Willingness to undertake a DBS check at enhanced level if successful for the position. Your DBS check will be paid for by us.
* Experience with Emotional Behavioural Disorder, Social/Residential Work, or Youth Work would be advantageous.
