Job Description Williams is looking for logistics experts to join our high performing operations team and contribute to our continued success in delivering excellence. We're seeking an Metal Controller to join our team and drive efficiency on a weekend shift pattern. The Metal Controller is responsible for managing the receipt, batching, preparation, and distribution of metals and raw materials for the Williams Racing machine shop. This role ensures the availability of precisely cut and prepared materials to meet the team’s high-performance manufacturing standards, contributing directly to the production of race-critical components. As a Metal Controller, your main responsibilities will be: Material Receipt and Inspection: Receive and inspect incoming metal shipments, verifying specifications against purchase orders and quality standards. Record and label materials accurately, ensuring traceability in compliance with team protocols and FIA regulations. Report any discrepancies or quality issues with materials to the procurement and quality control teams. Material Management and Batching: Organize and store metal stock, ensuring optimal accessibility and minimal waste. Batch references must be added to aid in traceability of all output. Maintain a detailed inventory system for all metal types, including aluminium, titanium, and steel. Cutting and Preparation: Operate cutting machinery to prepare raw materials to precise dimensions. Ensure all materials are prepared in accordance with engineering drawings, tolerances, and specifications. Conduct checks on finished materials to verify accuracy before transferring them to machinists. Coordination with Machine Shop Teams: Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and planners to ensure timely delivery of prepared materials. Respond promptly to urgent requests for materials or adjustments during production. Provide guidance on material properties and suitability for specific applications as needed. Maintenance and Housekeeping: Maintain cutting equipment and tools, scheduling regular servicing and repairs as necessary. Keep the material storage and preparation areas clean, safe, and well-organized. Stock Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor stock levels of raw materials, ensuring sufficient supplies for ongoing and upcoming projects. Communicate reorder requirements to the procurement team, factoring in lead times and project timelines. Prepare and submit reports on material usage, waste, and stock status for management review.
