Calling all compassionate and dedicated individuals! Mencap is seeking passionate Support Workers to join our incredible team in Horwich, Bolton, BL6.
As a Support Worker, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals with learning disabilities. You will be working with a diverse group of people, each with their own unique abilities and needs.
From assisting with daily activities to providing emotional support, you will play a vital role in their life.
This service in Horwich is a Registered Care Home that currently supports four people with profound & multiple learning disabilities.
The property is ground floor level and comprises a communal lounge, dining room, kitchen, shower room, bathroom & WC. The people who live there have their own bedrooms, decorated & furnished to reflect their choices and taste.
There is also a staff office/sleep room, along with a utility room and small rear garden area with access to the rear of the property.
The Service currently supports four people: three females and one gentleman.
One lady enjoys going bowling, social clubs, and to Blackpool. Another lady likes to watch TV, particularly older films and comedies, and enjoys listening to relaxing music. She prefers quiet environments and enjoys pamper sessions.
The gentleman we support likes to go to the cinema, shopping, and traveling on buses and trains. He enjoys action movies and listening to music from the 80s and 90s.
Three of the people we support are non-verbal and communicate in their own ways. One person is verbal but has a limited vocabulary.
The individuals have high medical needs, requiring support with epilepsy, PEG/JEJ support, catheter care, medication, mobility, and eating and drinking.
What we are looking for:
* A genuine passion for supporting others.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships.
* Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
* A positive and empathetic attitude towards individuals with learning disabilities.
* Ideally, this role requires you to be a driver.
Contract options:
* Part-time: flexible hours based on availability.
All our services are 24hr care. We prepare the rotas at least 4 weeks in advance so you can still plan your personal and social life!
* Days: Between 07:00-22:00.
There is also a sleep-in available where you will receive an enhanced flat rate payment of £62.45.
*All roles are subject to an enhanced DBS check and suitable references.
