TheSecondaryDesignEngineerwillleadandworkinaskilledteamonawiderangeofsubstationprojects.ThepositionwillfocusontheprojectandtenderengineeringanditsinterfacesandscopeofworkinvolvedinHV-substationdesignandconstructionprojects.
Areas of Responsibility
* Overall responsible for managing & leading all secondary engineering activities
* Instruct, supervise & coordinate with other engineering team, internal & external partners, sub-suppliers, secondary engineers & civil engineers.
* Review of P & C design packages.
* Submitting completed Design Packages for Design Compliance Audit
* Ensuring all design changes are managed in accordance with the design change management process defined as per NG
* Attending Design Review meetings (DRMs) and Hazard review meetings (HRMs) as required
* Review and certify the design packages.
* Secondary design but not limited to SLD, AC & DC distribution systems, battery and battery chargers sizing, voltage drop, cable sizing, signal lists, setting calculation, interface lists, cable block diagrams, multicore & fiber optic cable schedules, and cable score sheets, etc.
* Coordinate with suppliers and reviewing their deliverables. Check remote end requirements and provide input to supplier.
* Be familiar with Substation control system and its architecture
* Participate in technical discussions with customers and suppliers, handle site queries and take necessary actions up to as-built documentation
Technical Expertise required:
* Prepare Design Intent Document (DID) / Functional Design Specification (FDS) based on supplier inputs
* Reviewing supplier deliverables based on project specifications and standards.
* Support site team during execution stage.
* Provide technical calculations and schedules for all equipment for projects or tenders.
* Review of Suppliers design and Factory acceptance test plans.
* Provide technical support and to develop tender scheme options and related project scope documents.
* Availability to travel 25% of the time (domestic/international travel) working in an office and on a construction site
Experience Required:
* Bachelor or Master’s in electrical engineering or equivalent
* Extensive years of substation engineering experience in utilities.
* Contractor Design approval engineer (CDAE) P & C certification from National Grid.
* Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards it
* Result orientated team player with a proactive approach.
* Expert knowledge in Substation secondary design engineering, AC & DC system calculation, compilation of signal list, setting calculation, interface engineering and preparing cable schedules
