Description Job Description Do you want an exciting opportunity to lead the Participation and Human Rights Team in Drug Policy Division? This post sits within Drugs Policy Division which delivers the National Mission to reduce drug related deaths and improve lives. The National Mission incorporates a range of activity which seeks to improve availability of, access to and quality of treatment and support for people who use drugs. The Whole Systems Unit works across Government and local systems to meet the non-treatment related needs of people who use drugs. This includes reducing stigma, improving participation, integrating a human rights based approach, supporting families affected by drugs and improving justice responses. Putting people with lived and living experience of substance use and their families at the heart and Equalities and Human Rights are two cross-cutting priorities in the National Mission. Our team’s work aims to progress these through: • Overseeing the implementation of the Charter of rights for people affected by substance use. • Facilitating the integration of human rights into drug policy division projects and programmes and beyond. • Overseeing grant funding to organisations to develop and support networks of people with lived and living experience across the country. • Providing advice to Ministers on Douglas Ross MSP’s proposed Right to Addiction Recovery (Scotland) Bill. • Delivering an anti-stigma plan, collaborating across government and a wide range of stakeholders to ensure buy in and wide support. • You will be responsible for guiding the response to the Right to Addiction Recovery Bill through parliament, oversee the implementation of the Charter of Human Rights for people who use drugs and ensure that participation and human rights are at the heart of the Mission, taking an active role in the post 2026 planning. • You will Create and maintain a positive culture within the team, providing strong collaborative leadership and contributing to the strategic direction of the division.
