Wiltshire Police are proud of our Crime and Communications Centre, which puts our communities at the heart of everything we do, and our operators are the first point of contact for all emergency and non-emergency calls from the public. All 101 non-emergency and 999 emergency calls across Wiltshire come into our operational control room in Devizes taking more than 380,000 101 and 999 calls a year. - these calls can relate to anything from vehicle collisions, thefts of property, firearms incidents and assaults, to anti-social behaviour, missing people and requests for advice or help from people at their time of need. Central Call Handling Operators work within a busy team dealing with 101 calls received by Wiltshire Police; They provide an initial triage to all non-emergency calls at first point of contact. The successful candidate has an excellent telephone manner, is able to appropriately assess situations quickly and offer reassurance and advice to the public, signposting or transferring callers as required.
