Location: Frequent attendance at RAF High Wycombe will be required with an expectation of visiting other MOD locations as necessary. This role is suitable for hybrid working. Job holders may work from home or another MOD site, with regular attendance at High Wycombe as required based on individual, team, and business needs.
Short Summary: The Air Command Finance Business Partners are trusted partners in Royal Air Force strategic decision-making. We use our understanding of the RAF’s strategic goals, plans, and objectives to provide appropriate financial advice to enable informed strategic decision-making within Defence.
You will be joining a team providing advice and accurate insight on management information for RAF Budget Holders and supporting sound financial management across the RAF's c£8bn annual budget. You will be collaborating across functional boundaries, utilising your understanding of the broader strategic Defence context to ensure that the Royal Air Force is able to deliver the air and space power necessary to protect our nation.

You will play a vital role in the Air Finance Team, maintaining the Function’s focus on a vision that delivers valued Finance services to the RAF and a culture of continuous improvement.
We are looking for an experienced finance professional with an interest in working in Defence, a willingness to work hard, and gain knowledge to support the RAF’s senior leaders. Job description
Responsibilities:
In your role as a Finance Business Partner, you will:
1. Build strong and trusted stakeholder relationships
2. Business case/investment review and advice
3. Business engagement and advice, including working groups, projects, sub portfolio reviews & programme boards
4. Review of costed plans received from Delivery Agents (‘DA’) or the Financial Management and Reporting (‘FMR’) team
5. Oversight of In Year and Annual Budget Cycle (ABC) Forecasts and Senior Responsible Officer (SRO) briefs. Control Total (CT) Setting and ABC plan consolidation and reporting
6. Interpreting Head Office issued financial guidance and information and coherence of Head Office-issued tasks (such as savings measures)
7. Delivery of regular finance reviews and updates to the budget holders and their teams in whichever forums are appropriate
Person specification
It is essential for the successful applicant to be able to demonstrate the following:
1. A team player and self-starter with the ability to work in a culture of change, being adaptable and willing to review priorities to meet the current and future needs of the team.
2. Extensive financial management experience
3. Strong communication skills with a track record of working successfully with a wide range of senior stakeholders
You will report to a Grade 7 Senior Finance Business Partner, who in turn reports to the Grade 6 Lead Finance Business Partner.
