Cardiology Pre-assessment Specialist Nurse

The post holder will independently provide specialist nursing care for all elective Cardiology patients, demonstrating advanced clinical assessment skills to ensure patients are suitable to undergo all interventional Cardiology procedures.
They will manage their own caseload and take direct referrals from Consultant Cardiologists, responsible for a defined patient caseload in collaboration with the wider multidisciplinary team. This role promotes attitudes and standards of professional practice that reflect the organisation's commitment to providing timely and high-quality services and care to the community it serves.
The Specialist Nurse will manage and maintain patient flow, liaising with the medical team, Cardiology Day Ward, and wider Cardiology to ensure optimized patient care for a range of procedures.
Main Duties of the Job
1. Adhere to guidelines set out by the NMC Code of Conduct.
2. Provide information in various forms and media to facilitate understanding and questions, enabling patients, family, and carers to participate and make informed decisions about their care and treatment.
3. Advocate and put forward views and wishes on behalf of the patient where appropriate.
4. Provide Nurse-led services and clinics, assisting the patient's responsible Consultant to provide prompt diagnosis, treatment, and review interventions.
5. Perform physical assessments of patients prior to their procedure.
6. Act as a resource for specialist teaching and participate in preceptorship and mentoring programmes for all members of the Cardiology Team, Trust, and outside agencies where appropriate.
Job Responsibilities
The post holder will manage Cardiology pre-assessment clinics Monday to Friday, ensuring effective patient flow through the elective services pathway, working within a team of Specialist Nurse Practitioners within Cardiology to deliver this service.

Qualifications and Experience
* Registered Adult Nurse
* Current NMC Registration
* Mentor preparation program and live on current register
* Evidence of professional development
* ALS qualified or working towards
* BSc in Nursing related subject
* Leadership or management qualification or working towards
* Nurse prescribing qualification or working towards
* Teaching/assessing course
* Experience of managing change and participation in service development
* Qualification in clinical history taking and physical assessment/examination
* Qualification in obtaining consent (to be completed within the first 6 months)

* Demonstrates knowledge of nursing strategy & evidence-based practice
