Learning Support Assistant - Alternative Provision
Based in Blyth
Full-time | Monday to Friday | Term-time only
Pay: £93 - £104 per day (depending on experience)
Are you passionate about supporting young people who thrive outside of a mainstream classroom? We're looking for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist alternative provision in Blyth that helps secondary-aged students re-engage with learning.
About the role:
This is a full-time, term-time role supporting students (predominately in KS4) who may have experienced barriers to learning such as SEMH needs or behavioural challenges that prevent them from reaching their full potential. You'll work closely with teaching staff to deliver tailored support that helps build confidence, improve engagement, and raise achievement.
Key responsibilities:
1. Support students 1:1 and in small groups with academic and emotional development
2. Help manage behaviour positively and consistently
3. Adapt learning materials to suit different abilities and needs
4. Work collaboratively with teaching staff and external professionals
5. Be a reliable, nurturing presence for students needing structure and encouragement
What we're looking for:
1. Experience working with young people with SEMH/SEND/behavioural needs (preferred)
2. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
3. Calm, patient and resilient under pressure
4. DBS on the Update Service (or willing to obtain one)
