Test ROLE SUMMARY What are the key objectives and expectations from this role? To complete analysis of samples in the Materials Testing Laboratory using defined work practices and/or procedures as defined in Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) or at the discretion/direction of a Lead Technician, and at all times, in compliance with BAT EHS Policies & Practices. Reports to Analytical Manager Number of Direct Reports NA Core Relationships Internal –Combustibles, Packaging, New Categories, CPS, R&D Analytical, IDC, Global TSS Analytical Teams, DRBUs and Operations, External – Third Party Suppliers and consultants Geographic Scope Global Travel Required Minimal travel expected ACCOUNTABILITIES Management of the testing work schedule through co-ordination with planning using the Lyra planning system and Project stakeholders. Calibrate & operate laboratory equipment in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and Methods, with work conducted using the principles of Best laboratory Practice. Analysis of laboratory samples in accordance with approved methods using the LIMS system to maintain traceability of results Generation of data in appropriate/designated report format. Support the development of new working procedures within existing structure, methods or working practices for management approval. Contribution to technical reports & presentations and engagement with stakeholders. Ensure responsibilities are executed in line with EH&S, HMR&C policy. Support the development and validation of new working procedures, methods or working practices by objective evidence and validation for management and technical reviews. EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE ESSENTIAL Experience Required Fully proficient in completing tasks or activities associated with the receipt, preparation & measurement of samples. Ability to apply, from broad and thorough understanding and experience of analytical science, appropriate solutions or approaches to identify and resolve problems. Experience with Laboratory Methods and related equipment. Competent in executing Validated/Approved Methods. Analytical, quality driven and results orientated. Technical / Functional / Leadership Skills Required Ability to liaise and collaborate effectively with stakeholders Strong communication skills Education / Qualifications / Certifications Required Professional or industry experience or academic achievement related to physical science up to degree level or equivalent. BENEFICIAL Recognised proficiency in some laboratory techniques used to characterise non-tobacco materials including packaging. Thorough understanding of analytical science and techniques relevant to the testing of non-tobacco products. test
