We’re breaking down our business platforms and re-engineering them with an event-driven microservices architecture, so we’re looking for an innovative and adaptable Senior Software Engineer with cloud-native design skills who is keen to share and grow their knowledge and expertise within an exciting and ever-evolving business domain.
The ideal candidate will have experience of using multiple modern software languages to build creative solutions. What’s important is broad and deep development experience and the ability to adopt and use different languages and software tools to apply the right solution to the challenge in front of you.

About the role
Reporting to our Technology Team Leader, this is a role for a Senior Software Engineer with expertise in multiple software languages and experience of working with a cloud-native technology stack.
As a key member of a small and dynamic team, you’ll be responsible for:
1. Designing, developing, testing, deploying, documenting and maintaining high-quality software
2. Deep involvement with architecture and tooling decisions
3. Sharing and growing knowledge
4. Coaching and mentoring Junior Software Engineers
5. Ensuring the security of the software stack and LendingCrowd applications
6. Actively participating and engaging with the Technology team’s meetings and agile practices
7. Engaging proactively with business stakeholders to understand requirements
About you
In terms of knowledge, skills and experience, we would expect you to have:
1. An extensive and demonstrable background in modern software engineering/development practice
2. Expertise in multiple modern software languages – preferably Java and React
3. Experience of working within the cloud – we currently use AWS
4. Knowledge of modern DevOps practice and writing Infrastructure as Code
5. Developing with a security-by-design mindset
6. The ability to translate complex business needs into elegant technical solutions
7. The ability to influence stakeholders, senior management and peers
8. Experience of coaching and mentoring junior engineers
It would also be beneficial if you have experience of:
1. Working in the financial services sector
2. Working in a scale-up business
3. Ruby on Rails is beneficial but not necessary
4. Reactive Programming
