We are now recruiting for a Senior EC&I Engineer to join us permanently on our major projects located near Aldermaston.
Scope:
Reporting to the project engineering manager, the Senior EC&I Engineer will be responsible for the day-to-day management of discipline engineers and/or engineering design subcontractors. This will involve planning of work activities, estimates and schedules, and reporting of progress.
Responsibilities:
1. Perform a variety of engineering assignments in planning and overseeing research, development, design, construction, test, installation, operation, and maintenance of diverse EC&I systems and components.
2. Lead a design, analysis, or review team on complex engineering assignments.
3. Perform a range of design development, analysis, or review tasks independently.
4. Responsible for complete designs, analyses, or design reviews.
5. Generate complete design specifications for complex projects.
6. Organize and supervise a group of employees or subcontracted engineers for a given project, contract, or job with overall responsibility for cost, schedule, technical and employee performance.
7. Train other engineers on technical issues related to research, design, development, testing, and analysis of engineering assignments.
8. Coordinate and work closely with other engineering, logistics, financial, and program management disciplines to define system specifications and requirements.
9. Develop, maintain, and produce technical documentation and system/subsystem specifications.
10. Direct interface and liaison with internal and external customers at all levels from quotation to final design and test activities, design reviews, and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications.
11. Conduct site visits, investigations, analyze engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations.
12. Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and procedures.
13. Prepare, deliver, and submit technical papers and perform engineering studies.
14. Support the development of technical proposals and provide comments on the technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work.
15. Perform all other position-related duties as assigned or requested.
Education/Experience:
1. Ideally degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or other suitable discipline.
2. Chartered Engineer or working towards becoming Chartered.
3. Experience leading a Design team.
4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
5. Pro-active problem solver.
6. Ideally General nuclear building C&I experience.
7. Some electrical experience, up to 400V, would be beneficial.
8. Experience of safety case justification.
9. Experience of building regulations and planning submissions.
10. Experience of CDM regulations.
11. Area of oversight responsibility: IT systems, Security access and alarm system, Fire detection system.
Currently hold SC or prepared to go through the SC process.
