Due to an internal secondment, we have a rare opportunity to join our national Area Manger team initially on a 12-month fixed term contract, covering area 2 within the London & South East region.
This is a chance for a Retail Manger to advance their career or for a suitably qualified person working in other aspects of the Trust’s commercial operations to widen their experience.
The role is based at Micheldever Hub or, if preferred by the successful candidate, Heelis. The portfolio of 11 shops runs from Cliveden in the north to Mottisfont and Hinton Ampner in the south.

Looking after a portfolio of properties you’ll report to the Head of Operational Delivery (South) and work closely with the central retail team and key stakeholders in the region such as General Mangers leading your Retail Managers to grow sales and profitability..
The Area Manager manages an operation that welcomes visitors 363 days of the year, and your working pattern will reflect this and might involve weekend, bank holiday or evening work.
What you'll be doing
You'll lead your team of Retail Managers to deliver profit and sustainable growth in an environment of great customer service. Working locally and with the central retail team, you’ll deliver a differentiated product offer at each shop.
You’ll be responsible for implementing the retail plan, working collaboratively with other Commercial Area Managers, whilst collaborating with General Managers, helping to drive and deliver property objectives. Working with the finance business partners, you’ll influence and plan budgets.
You’ll ensure effective controls are in place so that your portfolio remains compliant, follows relevant legislation, and adheres to internal processes and procedures. You’ll also share best practice and lead to ensure brilliant service is delivered every day.
National & Regional travel is an intrinsic part of this role. A current driving license and access to your own vehicle is essential.

* Strong commercial acumen and demonstrable technical knowledge of the Retail business
* Multi-unit operational management experience within a national organisation
* Financial acumen regarding management and delivery of budgets
* Proven track record of performance leadership
* Demonstrable consulting and coaching skills
* Proven influencing skills
* Ability to deliver change within an evolving commercial business
* Strong communication and diplomacy skills to navigate challenging conversations and influence change
