Our client, the UK’s premier earthworks contractor, is seeking a motivated Project Engineer to join their dynamic team on the groundbreaking HS2 project—one of the most prestigious and high-profile infrastructure initiatives in the UK. As a key player on this transformative project, you will be instrumental in delivering world-class engineering solutions, ensuring both precision and efficiency in meeting demanding project specifications and deadlines. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a landmark project shaping the UK’s transportation future.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct GNSS-based site surveys and set out earthworks using batter rails, travelers, and visualisation stakeouts.
2. Review and validate 3D machine control models for automated earthmoving equipment.
3. Assess drawings, specifications, and works information, collaborating with the Foreman to determine optimal construction methods.
4. Prepare and maintain key project documentation, including Plans, RAMS, ITPs, and Checklists.
5. Oversee QA processes, ensuring all necessary checks are in place before work begins.
6. Perform spot soil quality checks, including plasticity and moisture content testing.
7. Assist site management with near-term rolling-wave planning to maintain project efficiency.
8. Identify and report relevant contractual events to the Commercial Team.
9. Accurately document and record verbal instructions, including sketches and supporting details.
Candidate Requirements:
1. Proven experience in earthworks or civil engineering, where you have delivered results.
2. A strong academic foundation with a minimum B in GCSE Maths and Physics.
3. A solid understanding of the four pillars of Civil Engineering, ensuring technical expertise across all areas.
4. Eligibility to join (or already on) the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) and a passion for progressing towards IEng status.
