We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Glasgow.
About the Role:
* This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design and development of complex mechanical systems, from concept to delivery.
* The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in designing and developing mechanical systems, with a strong understanding of engineering principles, materials science, and manufacturing processes.
* You will be responsible for producing high-quality CAD designs, specifications, and documentation, ensuring that all deliverables meet customer requirements and regulatory standards.
* In addition to your technical expertise, you will possess excellent communication and project management skills, enabling you to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, sales, and manufacturing.
* A strong emphasis will be placed on your ability to identify and mitigate risks, ensure compliance with quality and safety protocols, and drive continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design and develop complex mechanical systems, including general assemblies, detailed drawings, and 3D models.
* Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and specifications, ensuring accurate translation into CAD designs.
* Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including user manuals, assembly instructions, and technical reports.
* Conduct thorough risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to minimize potential hazards.
* Participate in regular team meetings and contribute to knowledge sharing sessions, staying up-to-date with industry developments and best practices.
Requirements:
* Strong educational background in Mechanical Engineering or related field, preferably with a HNC/HND qualification or above.
* Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in a similar mechanical engineering role, with a proven track record of delivering complex projects.
* Proficiency in CAD software, particularly SolidWorks, with experience in creating 3D models and detailed drawings.
* Familiarity with ERP systems, specifically Epicor, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
