SITE OPERATIONS MANAGER/HORTICULTURE NURSERY MANGER
Full Time 40 Hours Per Week including Occasional Weekends
An innovative well recognised horticultural name seeks an experienced Site Operations Manager to oversee the efficient and effective running of one of their new production enterprises. For this newly created role, the incumbent will have full P+L responsibility for the enterprise and will be allowed to make their own mark on the business.
Leading a team of highly enthused staff with the full support of the company hierarchy, the business expects the successful candidate to lead by example and create a healthy and motivational work environment and drive a philosophy of continuous improvement. Understanding the risks and tight margins the industry operates under, and work to improve KPI and DIFOT scores.
A background in horticulture production would be desirable, but not essential. However, experience in manufacturing and/or fast paced operations would be. Our business hold people at the core of its values and we would expect the job holder to mirror these values.
Key functions
• Manage the growing, production and despatch of 2Ha of ornamental plants.
• Be responsible for all on-site health and safety and security.
• Be a good communicator, to all those who’s roles require it.
• Profit and loss responsibility of the site’s performance.
• Plan well. Set our short- and medium-term goals with the team and long-term goals with the management. Setting realistic and achievable goals within budget.
• Liaise with 3rd party providers.
• Improve yourself as well as those around you.
• High levels of site cleanliness and well-maintained facilities.
• Passion for horticulture or a strong interest to learn and develop a career in it.
• Understanding or learning the intricacies of working with a living product.
• Recruit and appoint staff for the site, as well as develop their skills.
