Our client is an innovative advanced materials company, developing clean and green solutions for the coatings and materials sectors. Applications of their products are far-reaching - their surface treatment technology is suitable for metal, epoxy, plastic, glass, and composites, allowing for use within adhesion, material preparation, and green technologies.
As part of an expansion and increase in projects, our client is hiring for an Organic Research Chemist to join their team on a full-time and permanent basis.
The Opportunity
This opportunity would suit a synthetic organic chemist with experience in the materials, coatings, or green chemistry sector. It likely would not suit a pharmaceutical organic chemist. As an Organic Research Chemist, you will be responsible for:
* Development of new organic/polymer crosslinker and coating materials.
* Literature searching of new synthetic organic technologies.
* Synthesis, purification, and characterisation of organic materials.
* Collecting and analysing analytical data from various pieces of equipment potentially including HPLC, Mass-spectrometry, IR, UV-VIS, NMR, etc.
* Innovating new ideas for future projects.
Skills and Experience Needed
The ideal candidate will have the following:
* PhD in Organic/Polymer chemistry (essential - equivalent experience will also be considered e.g. MSc with 2+ years of experience in a similar position) – Fresh PhD candidates will be considered for this role.
* Significant experience in running organic/polymer synthesis projects, ideally within the material, coatings, or green chemistry R&D sectors (essential)
* Material/organic characterisation using analytical techniques such as HPLC, NMR, IR, MS (essential)
* Experience in managing their own projects (essential)
* The ability to work independently and as a member of a team (essential)
* Scale-up and process optimisation experience (desired)
The Package
Our client is able to offer a competitive salary and benefits package, with a starting salary range between £35,000 and £48,000 depending on experience level and interview performance.
