The Haematology Training Lead will work closely with other Band 7 BMS Team Leaders and Managers across Blood Sciences, including Haematology, Blood Transfusion, and Immunology. Additionally, they will liaise with the Blood Sciences Manager as well as Medical, Nursing, and Phlebotomy staff within the department. The post holder will report to the Consultant Heads of Haematology & Blood Transfusion for clinical aspects of their role and will take the lead in developing competency assessments for all staff grades to meet ISO 15189:2012/2022 accreditation standards. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated aptitude for supporting staff development, along with a solid understanding of the requirements for HCPC Registration, as well as the IBMS Registration and Specialist Portfolios. This role includes providing a full 24/7 acute/urgent service at Watford General Hospital and a non-urgent, Monday-to-Friday service at the Hemel Hempstead site. While primarily focused on training (approximately 60% of the role), the successful candidate will also serve as a Band 7 Team Lead when needed. Participation in the On-Call rota is required for this position.
