As a Gateline Assistant, you will assist in the operation of the ticket barriers and provide information and assistance to customers.
Your main responsibilities will be:
1. Delivering a high level of service to customers
2. Assisting in the day to day operation of the automatic ticket barriers
3. Ensuring customer security and responding to customer enquiries
4. Inspecting and issuing tickets
5. Addressing customer needs in times of service disruption
6. Ensuring the professional appearance of the gateline area by clearing rubbish and making sure customer walkways are unobstructed
7. Selling tickets via a mobile ticket machine and associated accountancy processes.
You'll need to be:
8. Able to deliver exceptional front line customer service
9. A Self-starter with a can do attitude
10. Confident when decision making
11. Able to remain calm yet directive in a crisis
12. Able to work to strict procedures
As a minimum you'll need to have:
13. The ability to work as part of a team or independently
14. Evidence of numerical ability
15. Strong verbal and written communication skills
About the location
Newton Abbot is the main station for the South Devon Area. It has good transport links to the surrounding area.
Working pattern
The role requires shift working including weekend and bank holidays, covering 7 days a week on a rolling roster pattern. Earliest start is at 0550. Latest Finish at 2230. This part time role is for 17.5 hours per week.
Additional information
Applicants successfully short listed will be invited to a competency-based interview. Interviews will take place w/c 6th January 2025. The successful candidate will be required to meet the medical standards for this role, together with a drugs and alcohol screen. A Basic DBS is also required.
Full training will be provided, which will be full time hours Monday to Friday, and will take place in our Training Centre in Swindon. A travel pass and hotel accommodation will provided.
