The Medical Education Co-Ordinator (MEC) reports to the Medical Education and Staffing Manager. The MEC will be responsible for co-ordinating and delivering the work carried out by the Medical Education Department in relation to Medical Students and Physician Associate Students. This will involve working closely with the Medical Education and Staffing Manager, the Director of Undergraduate Medical Education, the Nurse Educator, and other educational leads to ensure that all obligations in the Learning and Development Agreement, contracts with Universities, Health Education England, and other service level agreements are delivered as required.
Main duties of the job
Working with the Medical Education and Staffing Manager, the MEC will be responsible for coordinating the delivery, evaluation, and quality assurance of professional teaching activity, training programmes, induction, and skills training for student Physician Associates and undergraduate medical students.
The post involves working closely with very senior managers and clinicians both inside and outside the Trust. The MEC will be expected to take responsibility for the delivery of all requirements in agreed parts of the teaching programmes and supervise the work of Medical Education Administrators to ensure these are delivered.
Job responsibilities
1. Deliver, monitor, and evaluate induction for medical students ensuring compliance with NHSLA and other external stakeholder requirements (e.g., Universities).
2. Delivering and co-ordinating administrative support including the coordination and distribution of timetables.
3. Support the DME with the production of Annual Reports.
4. Liaise with those involved across South Yorkshire, North Notts, and North Derbyshire in Psychiatric and undergraduate Medical Education to meet the needs of students and DMEs.
5. Support the Medical Education and Staffing Manager in assessing the effectiveness of teaching programmes across the Trust by co-ordinating and analysing feedback responses.
6. Ensure that the Trust, HEEYH, and other stakeholder policies, in relation to operational tasks, are employed by all staff in the department.
7. Attend internal and external meetings as identified by line manager to advise about changes to policy/curriculum, in respect of students which require a decision and/or implementation.
8. Discuss policy changes by external stakeholders with line manager and agree a plan for implementation.
9. Deputise for the Medical Education and Staffing Manager when appropriate.
