As the Registered Manager you will be accountable for providing high quality care to children and young people whose needs are best met within a long term, nurturing/ therapeutic environment.
You will be responsible for the management and the successful day-to-day running of the home whilst directing, coaching, mentoring and supporting your staff teams, as well as focusing on continuous strategic planning for developments within the homes and monitoring key performance indicators.
You will co-ordinate the formation and implementation of placement matching processes for young people. You will work in partnership with families and carers of children, Social Workers and other outside agencies, as required.
Knowledge & Skills
1. Level 3/4/5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Children in residential care, or willing to work towards this, or an equivalent qualification such as a Social Work qualification.
2. Extensive work experience within a Children's residential home, of which significant experience must have been in a Registered Manager or Deputy Manager/ Team Leader capacity or a Senior role for at least 2 years.
3. Taking responsibility of quality standards, Children’s Homes Regulations, professional practice and levels of performance and ensuring that good practice is maintained.
4. Demonstrable knowledge and experience in children's social care related field.
5. Lead all areas of service as the Safeguarding officer ensuring that the children and young people are effectively safeguarded, and ensure the policies and procedures are strictly adhered to.
6. Ensure that there are agreed "child-centred" care plans in place organised through multi-agency working, consultation with placing authority and families.
7. Undertake service monitoring, audits and quality assurance reports including OFSTED Regulation 45 reports.
8. Be flexible.
9. Good IT Skills.
10. Provide leadership and support for residential care workers as well as the young people who reside at the home.
11. To maintain skills and knowledge and ensure that care is delivered according to latest guidelines and best practice evidence available.
12. Ensure the ongoing safety of residents, staff and visitors through systematic assessment, monitoring and reviewing processes.
13. Maintaining and approving information that is submitted either on the homes computer system or paper based.
14. Ensure that clear and accurate records and communication systems relating to care delivery are maintained and effectively used.
15. Maintain key areas such as supervisions, delegating tasks, monitoring key performance indicators, planning and organising the homes rota, preparing reports and liaising with key agencies and ensuring that the home is operating within the guidelines of Ofsted.
16. Managing the homes budget.
17. Holding team meetings.
18. Ensure that the home is maintained in accordance with Health and Safety requirements.
19. Recruitment of staff.
20. Train and develop the staff team to ensure the quality of service.
21. Working to targets, and setting goals for others.
22. Embedding a positive culture within the team and a “can do” attitude.
23. The planning, monitoring, adapting and evaluating of services.
24. Experience of continued professional development.
25. Experience of shaping services in partnership with commissioners and/or funders and/or beneficiaries.
26. Working to growth plans and delivering services within budgets.
27. Involving service users in service delivery, development and planning.
28. Managing individual performance and team dynamics.
29. Understanding a team’s skills mix and utilising it for the best possible outcomes.
Hours of Work: The normal working week is thirty-seven (37) hours however, there may be a requirement to work extra hours when necessary for which time off in lieu will be given.
Salary: The current salary for this position is £52,079 to £59,272 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
Location: The post will be located at Hipperholme, Brighouse.
Annual Leave: The annual leave entitlement is 28 days, inclusive of Statutory and National Holidays.
