What are we looking for
We have an opportunity within our Test team for an I&C Technician. Working alongside the Production and Test teams, the I&C Technician is responsible for the commissioning and testing of the Instrument and Control systems of megawatt scale electrolyser modules prior to shipping to the end customers. There is substantial scope for the technician to grow and develop in this role, gaining further responsibilities and skills.
The working hours for this position are 0600-14.00 Monday to Friday.
Responsibilities
* Commission, troubleshoot and calibrate control and instrumentations systems
* Use software to download programmes and to perform IO testing
* Perform loop and alarm testing
* Use electrical systems for fault finding in order to find a resolution
* Perform safety system testing in line with FAT1 testing
* Complete all relevant documentation of testing and commissioning records
* Support and perform witnessed testing for clients/third parties
* Feedback issues or opportunities in order to facilitate continuous improvement
* Support the test department in running plant during FAT2 processes
* Record test results and failure accurately, identifying faults and correct as required
* Ensure faults are to be logged and recorded. All changes will need to be tracked and auditable
* Feedback concerns and failures to the relevant teams
* Create and review RAMS as required as well as other safety documentation
* Fully operate the test bays and all associated electrical requirements
* Follow all quality control plans with an excellent level of understanding throughout
* Use and work with logic flow diagrams, P & ID and any other information required
* Communicate when required with key stakeholders as well as any other departments
* Prioritise workloads dependent on project and business needs
* Visit sites when required to complete testing and fault finding.
* Champion all things relating to Safety, Quality, Cost and Delivery. This will include process improvements and the elimination of waste/inefficiencies
About You
Knowledge and Experience
* Time served engineer qualified to HNC/HND or higher qualification
* Working knowledge of PLC based control systems
* Understanding of Health and Safety including permit to works, LOTO and RAMS procedures would be beneficial
* 3 or more years in a comparable role, involving industrial control and automation systems
* Experience in start-up, commissioning or service of industrial plant
* Mechanical or Electrical background
* Electrical work and using circuit diagrams and drawings
* Fault-finding and troubleshooting
* Siemens S7 PLCs, VSDs, HMIs and ladder logic
* LV authorised person
* Working with safety systems
* Experience of DCS networks and SCADA server systems
Skills and Abilities
* Ability to quickly learn new process control & automation technology
* Ability to understand and work from technical drawings and documentation
* Ability to problem solve and think outside the box
* Strong organisational skills, be self-motivated
* Enjoy working in a team environment
* A can-do attitude and a willingness to maintain project progress
* Attention to detail and a methodical approach to work is essential for this role
* Excellent communication skills.
* Self-motivated and able to work within a team environment
* Flexible approach to working hours and overtime as per the requirements of the business
