To become an Early Years Lecturer, we need someone who has great communication and interpersonal skills and is passionate about early years education. KEY ROLES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
* To teach across a range of programmes in Early Years associated areas.
* To take an active part in the recruitment of learners, providing appropriate advice and guidance.
* To deliver high quality teaching and learning by:
* Providing students with a planned learning and assessment experience;
* Effectively managing and monitoring the learning process;
* Providing regular assessment opportunities;
* Providing timely and constructive feedback;
* Guiding and supporting learners to achieve their learning goals.
* To support, and where appropriate, contextualise and/or ‘signpost’ English and maths in the curriculum.
* To actively develop and use new technology in teaching, learning and assessment.
* To provide assignment and assessment material appropriate to each specific programme.
* To produce schemes of work, lesson plans, individual learning plans and assessment schedules etc. appropriate to the curriculum area.
* To evaluate and assess (formative and summative) the work of learners in relation to the curriculum criteria and provide timely constructive and helpful learner feedback.
* To attend curriculum meetings and to contribute to the continual quality improvement mechanisms (e.g., contribute to maintenance of course files, timely updating of e-ILPs on ProMonitor).
* To keep accurate and effective systems of administration which support the student and College needs, including management and maintenance of learner ILPs, progress and performance records.
* Where appropriate, liaison with other departments (e.g., Exams and MIS).
* To ensure safe working practices across the programme area.
GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
* To commit to the safeguarding and promotion of the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
* To participate in the College’s Performance Management Scheme and attend such training events as are necessary to enable him/her to carry out the duties of the job description.
* To continually improve teaching, learning and assessment through proactive CPD and sharing best practice.
* To actively participate in the College’s Quality System, including quality improvement strategies and initiatives.
* To undertake such other duties as may be assigned commensurate with the grade and purpose of the post.
* To take reasonable care for the health and safety of him/her and for others affected by his/her work.
* To actively support College Safeguarding, Equality and Diversity policies.
* To operate/conduct all HR tasks and functions within the principles of GDPR.

CONDITIONS OF SERVICE – Academic staff:
The appointment is subject to the Conditions of Service for Academic Staff. The work pattern of a Lecturer is not necessarily linked to the traditional academic year.
SALARY:
The salary range for this post is from £24,118 to £38,244 per annum/pro rata. Starting salary will be dependent upon experience and qualifications. Once you have successfully passed your probationary period, your salary will increase within the salary band on an annual incremental basis, until you reach the top of the salary scale. Increments are in August.
TEACHING QUALIFICATION:
Applicants are required to hold an appropriate teaching qualification or be willing to undertake and gain the Certificate in Education and Training within 2 years of their appointment. Successful applicants will be required to attend the course on-site as the College delivers the course in-house.
MATHS AND ENGLISH:
All staff are required to have a minimum level 2 qualification in both English and Maths. If you are not already in receipt of one or both of these qualifications, you will be expected to obtain it (them) during your employment at the College.
SAFEGUARDING:
The College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults, and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
All newly appointed staff will be required to undertake safeguarding training following their appointment.
VALIDATION OF QUALIFICATIONS:
The College will undertake qualification validation by writing to the appropriate educational institute. Only those qualifications which are essential for the post will be followed up.
HOURS OF WORK:
The hours of work will be based on 29.6 hours per week. Actual hours of work to be agreed with the manager.
ANNUAL LEAVE:
The post carries 37 annual leave days with an additional eight public bank holidays plus a further five concessionary days as ‘leave to be taken at the Principal’s discretion’. Annual leave will be pro rata if part time.
PENSION SCHEME:
The College operates an occupational pension scheme, namely the ‘Teachers Pensions’.
PROBATIONARY PERIOD:
All newly appointed teaching staff have to serve a 9-month probationary period. During the probationary period you will have to attend the Corporate staff induction day, a Teaching & Learning Induction and additional mandatory courses on: Prevent, Equality & Diversity session, GDPR, Safeguarding Training session and Health & safety training session. Failure to attend these will prevent you from successfully completing your probation.

All candidates have to have 2 satisfactory references.
LOCATION:
The successful applicant will be based in Worcester but may be required to work at other locations from time to time.
