Job responsibilities
At Blackheath Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre, we recently celebrated the remarkable discharge of Andreous, a much-loved resident who made an inspiring recovery following a near-fatal ruptured aneurysm. After life-saving surgery at King’s College Hospital, Andreous arrived at our South East London centre in November 2024 in need of intensive, specialist neurorehabilitation.
His journey back to independence was made possible by the unwavering support and expertise of our multidisciplinary team—particularly our Occupational Therapists, who played a crucial role in rebuilding the everyday skills that matter most.
As a retired barber and hands-on family man, Andreous was determined to regain control over his life. Our OT team worked closely with him to restore upper limb function and fine motor skills through targeted therapy groups, including hand function and upper limb rehabilitation. From supporting him with balance and mobility during circuit and walking groups, to helping him relearn how to complete essential daily activities with confidence, the OT team were instrumental in Andreous’s recovery. They provided not only practical rehabilitation but also emotional encouragement and a clear plan forward—helping Andreous visualise and achieve a return to the life he loved.
His wife shared heartfelt thanks upon his discharge: “We are incredibly grateful for your unwavering support. Much love. Big hugs from our family.”
If you’re ready to help shape recovery journeys like Andreous’s—and be part of a team where every achievement, big or small, is celebrated—this could be your perfect next step.
