A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A LINEN PORTER AT OUR HOTEL
What you'll be doing...
1. Ensure the distribution of bedroom linen to all linen cupboards on all floors as soon as delivery arrives in a timely manner.
2. Ensure each Room Attendant has sufficient linen for the bedrooms allocated to them each day and fill their trolley at the end of the day, ready for the start of the next day.
3. Ensure the collection of linen and rubbish from around the hotel to maintain clean and tidy corridors and public areas.
4. Accept and correctly store all linen deliveries.
5. Process reject linen in line with set procedures.
6. Operate the linen control system in conjunction with relevant departments.
7. Support the accurate completion of regular stock takes, ensuring results are accurate.
8. Support the Room Attendants as requested by the Head Housekeeper / Supervisors, which may involve distributing and making up extra beds, cots, and mattress turning in line with quarterly requirements.
9. Be responsible for the cleanliness and tidiness of the laundry and all linen storage areas.
10. Be aware of individual linen costs and ensure linen is kept within the boundaries of business levels to avoid minimum charges from the linen hire company.
11. Greet all guests you encounter in hotel public areas with a warm smile and appropriate talk lines.
12. Report maintenance faults to a member of the Housekeeping Management or Maintenance team daily.
13. Report any suspicious persons to a member of the Housekeeping Management team or Duty Manager as soon as you become aware of them.
14. Ensure all bedroom doors are closed to prevent theft and do not permit anyone access to a bedroom if they cannot prove they are the residents by displaying their key card.
15. Ensure security of keys at all times, handing them to a member of the Housekeeping Management team before going off duty.
16. Adhere to all relevant legislation and Company policies and procedures including but not limited to those relating to safety and security, and health and safety.
