Job Summary
The Electrical Purchasing Specialist plays a critical role in managing the procurement process for our organization. This position is responsible for sourcing, buying, and procuring materials and services necessary for production and operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of supply chain management and vendor relations, ensuring that all purchases align with company goals and budgetary constraints.
Duties
* Sourcing Material and creating Purchase Order
* Collaborate with various departments to identify purchasing needs and specifications.
* Source and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, and delivery capabilities.
* Negotiate contracts and terms with vendors to secure favorable pricing and conditions.
* Manage vendor relationships to ensure consistent supply chain performance.
* Utilize MRP (Material Requirements Planning) systems and SPIRE software for inventory management and procurement processes.
* Monitor market trends to identify potential sourcing opportunities or risks.
* Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier performance metrics.
* Assist in the development of procurement strategies that align with business objectives.
* International purchasing experience is an asset.
* Minimum of 5 years Electrical Purchasing is a MUST (other will Not be Considered).
* Inputting PO's using company purchasing software.
* Knowledge of “Spire Accounting Business Software” (or similar) is an asset.
* Tracking Inventory and directly involved in Daily, Weekly, Monthly & Yearly inventory count.
* Managing cost control and product shortages.
* Working directly with department Supervisors & Managers to help create proper inventory levels of purchased products.
* Assist in Creating shipping documents such as BOL's, Commercial Invoices & Packing slips for National and International orders.
* Reviewing all purchase orders and identifying any errors also dealing with suppliers to rectify any issues.
* Accurately track receiving information and documentation and correctly inputting information into the accounting system.
* Report and keep record of late POs per day and number of late deliver purchase orders … present these findings during morning meetings along with an explanation and expected ETA’s.
* Ensure proper inventory rotation (Older items are sold before new ones).
* Maintain daily and weekly back orders and follow any instructions that follow each order.
* Receive and document orders within 24 hours of unloading, verify the quantity of items and report any discrepancies.
* Strong knowledge of supply chain management principles.
* Proficiency in vendor management practices.
* Experience with sourcing materials and negotiating contracts effectively.
* Familiarity with MRP systems and SAP software is highly desirable.
* Ability to analyze pricing data to make informed purchasing decisions.
* Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with internal teams and external suppliers.
* Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing multiple tasks.
* Purchasing for other departments as required will also be expected.
This role is essential for ensuring that our organization operates efficiently while maintaining high standards of quality in all procured goods and services.
Health and Safety:
* Strictly adhere to all health and safety policies and practices, housekeeping protocols and WHIMIS protocols, if in any case you feel a procedure is unsafe, please report to management.
* Complete and/or file in house inspection documents daily and notify management if there are any concerns.
Qualifications:
* Demonstrate a passion for teamwork in daily interactions and learning in all areas of work.
* Reading & Writing of the English language mandatory (French and Mandarin are an asset).
* Strong computer skills around data entry.
* Forklift experience is an asset.
* Ability to lift up to 50lbs on a continuous basis should it be required.
