1. Location: Leyburn
2. Position: Transport Planner
3. Type: Permanent
4. Working Hours: Monday to Friday. Between 8.30am-5pm.
5. Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 per annum
About the Role:
Working as a Transport planner you will be responsible for optimising the logistics and transportation of goods, ensuring compliance with regulations, and enhancing overall operational efficiency. You will work closely with drivers and other departments to deliver outstanding service. This is a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the business.
Key responsibilities include:
6. Develop and optimise transportation routes to ensure efficient, on-time deliveries while reducing costs and fuel consumption.
7. Oversee transport operations to ensure adherence to all relevant UK and EU regulations, as well as safety standards.
8. Track and evaluate transport expenses, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
9. Leverage transport management software and telematics systems for real-time tracking, route planning, and optimisation.
10. Coordinate with drivers and internal teams to manage delivery schedules and resolve any issues.
11. Review and analyse transport data to identify trends, improve processes, and generate reports for senior management.
12. Collaborate with Account Managers and other departments to ensure smooth and efficient daily operations.
About you:
13. The ideal candidate will hold a degree or other relevant qualification in Transport Management, Logistics, or a related field.
14. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in transport planning or logistics within the haulage industry is essential.
15. The ideal candidate will be able to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and manage time efficiently.
16. The ideal candidate will be Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience with transport management software.
17. The ideal candidate will have a understanding of UK transport regulations and compliance.
18. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of sustainability practices in transport.
