An exciting opportunity for a Band 6 staff nurse has arisen in KGH ITU, Ilford. You will be part of a team caring for critically unwell patients across 2 units based at KGH. Jasmine ward is a 4 bed elective surgical unit providing post-operative care for patients requiring level 2 and level 3 care in the post-operative period. KGH ITU is a 9 bed unit providing care to emergency admissions from both the wards and a busy emergency department presenting with a range of conditions requiring level 2 and level 3 care. Our critical care units consist of a total of 57 beds across two sites - Queens and King Georges and occasionally you will be required to work across site depending on service demands. We are looking for enthusiastic experienced nurses with a passion for delivering high-quality care in partnership with patients and their relatives, who can demonstrate an ability to lead others to work within these standards in a secondment role. You will be required to provide training and support to new staff members, guiding individuals that require performance-related assistance. You must be able to act as a role model providing teaching and leadership support to the nursing team in the clinical area and work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to demonstrate high standards of individualised and evidenced based patient centred care and be responsible for supporting changes based upon local and national guidelines.
Main duties of the job
1. To provide holistic nursing care to clients within the ITU/HDU, utilising all resources to provide excellence in practice.
2. To develop personally & professionally as an effective member of the multidisciplinary team and undertake appraisal annually.

Person Specification
Education/ Qualifications
* Registered General Nurse
* Post graduate course in Critical Care
* Teaching qualification e.g. ENB 998, Teaching and Assessing in Nursing Practice
Experience/ Knowledge
* Sufficient critical care experience and a skilled competent critical care nursing practitioner able to work autonomously and as part of a team.
* Experience in audit & research
