We are seeking an enthusiastic and visionary Armed Forces Covenant & Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Manager to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will play a key role in ensuring that ABUHB recognises the unique contributions that members of the Armed Forces and their families play in the health of our population. As a minimum, the role will ensure that ABUHB is compliant with the legal requirements of the Armed Forces Covenant whilst also exploring new ways to improve organisational awareness of and partnership working with The Armed Forces.
You will champion and drive our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion strategy, ensuring that equality, diversity, and inclusion are at the heart of everything we do.
We are looking for an individual with lived experience of the Armed Forces either through direct services or as a close family member of serving personnel. As well as an in-depth understanding of equality, diversity, and inclusion issues, legislation, and best practices.
You will possess excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and inspire others. And be a passionate advocate for equality and diversity, with a commitment to creating a more inclusive environment.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will assist with embedding the requirements and principles of the Armed Forces Covenant into the service delivery, employment practices and partnership working of ABUHB. The post holder will also play a significant role in engaging and promoting the views of Reservists, Veterans and family members who work for and receive services from ABUHB and act as a first point of contact with other strategic partners including Armed Forces bodies, statutory partners and relevant community and their sector organisations.
The post holder will support the achievement of the organisation's Strategic Equality Plan and priorities by providing professional advice, guidance to colleagues and other Senior Managers to ensure equality for staff, patients and service users and that ABUHB establishes and maintains a reputation as a fair and inclusive employer.
The post holder will assist with the development of strategies and policies to support equality governance of the organisation in particular, equality management, compliance with legislation and other mandatory requirements, having particular regard to the Equality Act 2010 and the Human Rights Act 1998 so that the organisation meets the highest standards of practice.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post. English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Essential
* Masters qualification relevant to field of work (for MCIPD) or equivalent demonstrable knowledge and experience
* Evidence of CPD
* Sound understanding of the Armed Forces Covenant and associated legislation

* MCIPD or equivalent professional qualification
* Recognised training qualification
* Knowledge and understanding of wider political and social drivers that influence service delivery within the NHS.

* Lived Experience of the Armed Forces either through direct service or as a close family member of serving personnel
* A proven track record of leading, developing and delivering high impact staff experience at management level in a large and complex multi-professional organisation
* Experience of developing and monitoring the impact of action plans and frameworks.
* Proven experience of negotiating and influencing senior managers and staff, to engage with the Armed Forces Covenant and Armed Force partners.
* Experience of building effective cross-functional working relationships to drive the organisation's agenda
* Experience of delivering against competing priorities and deadlines
* Experience of fostering positive and collaborative working relationships with recognised trade unions and other representatives
