The Woodland Group are recruiting an Integration Developer for our team in Chelmsford, Essex. The Integration Developer will join a small but dedicated team of UK-based developers to build, manage and test integrations, using enterprise-grade integration tooling to ensure that data flows seamlessly between key operational and back-office technology platforms.
About us:
Woodland is the largest independently owned Freight Forwarding company in the UK, with offices in North America, Ireland, Europe and China. Having successfully launched Woodland Online (an online quoting and tracking platform) a few years ago, Woodland is continuing to make extensive investments in building out its digital capabilities.
This is a great opportunity to join a small but dedicated team of UK-based developers to build, manage and test integrations, using enterprise-grade integration tooling to ensure that data flows seamlessly between key operational and back-office technology platforms. Connected supply chains are fundamental to what we do and, as such, this role offers a unique breadth of experience including hands-on development, management of offshore 3rd party resource and international exposure across varied lines of business.
Woodland Group strongly believes in investment in its people and environment. As such, whilst prior experience with Boomi is highly desirable, full training on our technical and integration platforms will be provided. As such, we encourage applications to this role from a wide range of backgrounds.
The role will be based in our Chelmsford Head Office with an expectation of two days a week in the office.
What you will be doing:
* Develop, test and support integration solutions, primarily using Boomi middleware, in line with our standards and design principles, ensuring they meet business needs.
* Interpret functional specification documentation and also work directly with functional specialists to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions, contributing advice to overall solution designs and creating technical specification documentation.
* Work with the wider team to design and implement creative technical solutions to work around system constraints as / when required.
* Adhere to specifications and standards agreed within the Integration Services team in addition to the IT project lifecycle, including quality assurance and testing of solutions and approval before release.
* Create and maintain documentation for integration solutions, processes, and data flows.
* Work alongside other developers, providing mutual support.
* Contribute to cutover planning and execution where required.
* Participate actively in Integration Process design reviews to ensure adherence to best practices and Woodland design standards.
* Investigate and resolve support incidents, suggesting improvements if possible. On call out of hours support might be required from time-to-time.
About you:
* Have 2+ years development experience using Boomi or another major integration platform such as Mulesoft, Workato, BizTalk etc, or a background in software development.
* Have direct experience working on ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) or WMS (Warehouse Management System) integration, ideally working with transactional and master data to/from other business applications.
* Be familiar with API (REST, SOAP etc.) and related data standards incl. JSON, XML, CSV etc.
* Understand how to design and implement highly available technical services including appropriate design provision for parallel processing.
* Enjoy working with a wide range of internal and external technical stakeholders to deliver high quality, modern technical solutions.
* Have a good understanding of networking and security principles.
* Be a great communicator, organised, proactive, methodical, and thorough, with a great eye for detail. You actively seek ways to improve your knowledge and performance.
* Have lots of great ideas and the initiative to put them forward, and where possible, into practice.
* Be open minded and flexible – you're happy to respond to changing circumstances and priorities while remaining calm and focussed on getting the job done.
* Excel at working collaboratively, you excel in a team environment across geographical and cultural boundaries. Building strong, long lasting working relationships comes naturally to you.
Why you will love working for us:
