We are looking for a Head of Planning to lead my client's planning team and oversee a wide range of projects, ensuring top-quality results. This role involves managing day-to-day operations, contributing to business planning, and shaping the strategic direction of the department and organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
·Lead and guide the planning department, motivating the team to achieve their best.
·Develop and implement strategies, budgets, and plans to ensure high-performing services.
·Provide expert advice on planning matters to stakeholders and clients.
·Drive continuous improvement and support the professional development of your team.
·Collaborate with senior managers, partners, and clients on major projects.
·Prepare planning applications, policy documents, and project strategies.
·Manage key planning tasks, including applications, appeals, and negotiations.
About You:
We are looking for a confident, ambitious, and experienced professional with:
·RTPI accreditation and 5+ years of Chartered membership.
·Strong experience in planning, ideally with both public and private sector clients.
·A proven track record in managing infrastructure projects and delivering results.
·Expertise in planning law, project management, and stakeholder negotiations.
·Strong communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
·A proactive approach to meeting deadlines and managing workloads.
Professional Experience:
·Preparing planning applications, development strategies, and reports.
·Negotiating with local authorities and stakeholders.
·Knowledge of planning law, development viability assessments, and strategic land promotion.
·Experience with Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and Section 106 agreements.
·Familiarity with BNG applications, area-based plans, and permitted development rights.
The team work on a hybrid working model, requiring staff to be in the office for two days a week, with the flexibility to work from home or the office for the remainder of the week.
