SEMH Teacher Job Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teacher to join this great team and support students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The ideal candidate will be passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people, providing tailored learning experiences that address both academic progress and emotional well-being. Key Responsibilities: Plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons tailored to students with SEMH needs. Create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment that fosters emotional and academic development. Implement strategies to support students' emotional regulation, resilience, and positive behavior. Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and other professionals to provide holistic support. Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behavior support plans. Monitor and track student progress, adjusting teaching approaches as needed. Foster strong relationships with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure the best outcomes for students. Maintain up-to-date records and reports in line with school policies and safeguarding procedures. Requirements: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent (e.g., PGCE, SCITT). Experience working with students with SEMH needs, SEND, or within an alternative provision setting. Strong understanding of behavior management strategies and trauma-informed approaches. Ability to differentiate lessons to meet diverse learning needs. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach to teaching and supporting young people. Desirable: Additional qualifications in SEN, Mental Health, or Therapeutic Education. Experience using de-escalation techniques (e.g., Team Teach, MAPA, or similar training). Familiarity with EHCPs (Education, Health, and Care Plans) and safeguarding procedures.
