LGPS Central (LGPSC) Ltd is the FCA-regulated asset manager for eight local authority pension funds across the Midlands. LGPSC is jointly owned on an equal shares basis by those Partner Fund, and it is responsible for managing almost £30bn of their assets. It is one of eight Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) asset pools in the UK.

Based in Wolverhampton, the talented and motivated Junior RI Analyst will be a valuable addition to LGPS Central’s Investment Team. Working in an RI-integrated investment function, the Junior RI Analyst will help to support the delivery of the RI&E Framework, including supporting the delivery of call-of services to Partner Funds.
The role will involve communications across internal investment desks and with clients. The role will require analysis of quantitative and qualitative information to produce genuinely insightful ESG and climate risk reports that support investment risk management and decision-making.
Outside the primary remit of the role described above, the successful candidate will be introduced to all aspects of LGPS Central, including internal & external portfolio management, compliance, legal, operations, finance, and client relations.
Outcomes:
* Support the delivery of sustainability, climate change and TCFD reports to partner funds, and present results as requested.
* Conduct due diligence on new manager appointments across equities, fixed income and private markets.
* Conduct monitoring of external managers RI integration and stewardship performance across equities, fixed income and private markets.
* Support internal investment teams with analysis of ESG risks.
* Support Head of Stewardship with voting and engagement.
* Respond to ad-hoc requests from partner funds
* Support RI&E Manager (Net Zero) with implementation of Net Zero strategy.
* Support LGPS Central TCFD reporting, Stewardship Code and UNPRI reporting.
* Support partner funds in reporting requirements.
Wider Remit:
* 360-degree learning about the workings of an asset manager, across departments
* Contribution to investment team meetings
* Promotion of LGPS Central within the industry
Technical Skills/Knowledge/Experience:
* Demonstrable interest in ESG/ responsible investment, achieved through academic study or work experience.
* Understanding of the interaction between ESG (including climate change) and investment outcomes.
* Understanding of climate-related risk including carbon risk metrics.
* Strong written communication skills combined with attention to detail and commitment to quality.
* Excellent communication, including to internal & external stakeholders
* Motivated by the prospect of assisting long-term investors to manage climate change risks
* Analytical skills; quantitative and qualitative
* Well-organised
Qualifications
* Relevant degree and/or professional qualification or experience of working in a financial environment.
* IMC gained and working towards CFA qualification or similar/or relevant investment experience would be a plus
